Why Fireweed, you may ask? What’s in the name?

I chose the name Fireweed BakeShop/Bakery, not only because I live in Alaska and it is one of the iconic images that come to mind when people mention the state, but for far deeper reasons as well.

Fireweed was given it’s name because it is one of the first plants to grow after a fire ravages an area. Fireweed is the symbol of new growth, of regeneration, of new beginnings. It has the amazing ability of improving the soil that it grows in so that other plants may grow. And then it sends out up to 80,000 seeds per year!

Like fireweed, my vision for this bakery goes far deeper than simply providing yummy treats for you to eat. Our ingredients take us back to homemade quality in an elevated fashion. We reuse local resources by harvesting local berries/fruit/veggies and flowers for a truly unique Alaska bakery experience.

While I started in a tent back in 2019, today the bakery operates in its very own mobile tiny home bakery trailer. Custom designed and built, the Fireweed BakeShop trailer made her way up from Idaho to Soldotna, Alaska in June of 2023. Come visit us and try some European inspired bakery items and desserts with local Alaska flavor flair all in our tiny home commercial bakery for what we hope is a uniquely local Alaska experience you won’t forget.
